Hi All,

I have a WB 28i Junior Combi boiler. It is on at present although the pressure is very low...it's actually on 0.

I understand that I need to get water into the system but cannot find any valve etc to allow me to do so.

Can anyone shed any light on the situation for me......otherwise I am going to have to switch it off.....and its bloody freezing!!

Cheers

this boiler either has a built in filling loop (check the instructions, if you've not got them go on the manufacturers website) or you have and external fill loop. This will probs be a silver flexible pipe somewherenear the boiler

Hi Red Man,

Thanks for the advice.

I have looked for the key and it is not there!!!! I had some work done in the flat a couple of years ago and he would have needed to have filled the system back up afterwards........he has not replaced the key however. What's my best bet now......will Plumbase etc stock this, how much is a new key???

Cheers once again.

an integral fill loop with a key was only an option on this boiler, make sure you have one before buying a key. it's black, and links the two brass manifolds/isolation cocks under the right side of the boiler.

Many thanks once again.....

I have had a look and there does not appear to be anything that obvious that you would insert this key into......based on this and the fact that there is not a key, I would guess that I have a boiler without this option. On this basis, where do I go from here??

Cheers

If you look at the plumbing around the boiler, is there a pipe with a valve on it (usually flexible braided) which links 2 of the pipes coming out of your boiler (Mains supply and central heating return)?

doesn't this one have a built in valve at the front right corner, underneath?

edit: thought about this and maybe it doesn't. sorry. external loop around installation

Hi All,

The Saga continues...and I am getting colder as I have switched the central heating off..!!!

I have put a couple of photos in my album - I have set the setting to allow all to view, I guess this is the way to do it.

I have someone coming round on Thursday to have a look but if I can sort it out sooner then all the better. Please can you take a look and see if you can spot something dead simple like 'turn this' etc.

Cheers

don't look like a built in valve. follow the pipework downwards and look for a flexible pipe or fitting for a pipe. it may be hidden now

which off the pipes do i need to concentrate on do you know???

cheers

to you, it makes little difference, one is on the cold inlet , a 15 mm pipe, but if you can't see ANY flexi or fittings for one you're a bit stuck. they sometimes get 'lost' behind alterations

I second that! It's 100% not an intergral filling loop. It's unusual not to be obviously close to the boiler though... Put up some pix of all the vissable pipes if you don't have any luck

You need to look for one of these (or similar)-
View media item 20488Between the 4th and 5th copper pipes (counted from left), the 4th being the smaller 15mm pipe(cold mains inlet) and the 5th being 22mm (Heating return).
As previously mentioned they often have the habit of being 'lost' behind kitchen cabinets and 'boxed in' sections so follow the route of the pipes, looking for cutouts in back of cupboards etc.. It should be in the vicinity of the boiler so that you can watch the pressure guage whilst filling, else if someone has hidden it elsewhere in the house (old airing cupboard?) it should have a Pressure guage nearby to it there...
Top back up to 1-1.5 bar.
