to paint or not to paint decking

just had pressure treated decking installed. is it worth painting? chippy that put it in for us said he has had his down for 12 years and never painted it and its fine.

I would suggest never painting decking.

Paint is the devil of a job on pressure treated timber. Give it a good stiff brushing regularly and use decking stain every two years if needed.

Decking Oil is what yer want!

I am very impressed by the finish. I used 'Cuprinol Decking Oil and Protector' with Oak tint - it looks great. Best price I could find was screwfix ~ £30 for 5 litres. Enough for 2 coats on 6 x 5 deck.
