I haven't yet been able to find that old thread
//search.diynot.com/forum_search.php?all=cooker+rcd+trip&phrase=&any=&not=&intitle=&forum_id=8&since=any&sortbytime=0&author=BoxCleva&search=Search+Forum&stype=0
But nothing in there about installing an earth rod.
As you say, no mention of earth rods. Maybe there's another thread?

Kind Regards, John.

The fault could be a neutral to earth fault on a different circuit.

where the load is your grill.

Though it is a puzzle that only the grill trips the RCD. What wattage is the grill and the other elements in the appliance ?

What teminals are there for the power lead the to oven ? Some ovens have different power terminals for the various sections. An error wiring the power cable terminals that feed the grill could be the cause of the RCD tripping.

Are there more than three terminals for the cable (Live Neutral Earth) ? Are there two or more terminals for Live with a link between them ? Are there two or more terminals for neutral ?

I'm not sure I understand how that could be the explanation since, as you go on to say:

I think it's probably a bit more than a puzzle - if there were a persitant N-E fault on another circuit, then surely putting any load on any circuit would result in the RCD tripping?

Kind Regards, John.
