Hi , Last night I had to get up at 1.30 in the morning to shut my POTTERTON SUPRIMA up !. It was making a faint roaring noise - But wasnt on . In fact the water & heating had clicked off at 11.30 .
The noise was like a faint rummbling I actually thought the dishwasher was on .
Any ideas wot it was ?. :?:
To quitet it down I just flicked the switch on the fused spur and it went instantly quiet .
I imagine it was some kind of fan , but last night was very cold and it was 2 hours after the boiler had gone off , so does it actually NEED a fan constantly running or should it have switched itself off ????
and will me turning it off nack anything?

Is it your frost stat kicking in? My CH system is set up so that if the temperature in the boiler cupboard next to the garage gets too cold it will light the boiler. In my case it sets the whole heating system circulating which wakes me up at 3 am.

It would make better sense if it only warmed up the pipes in the cupboard. Perhaps this is what's happening in your case.
