Hi,

I am putting a Belfast sink into my uility room supported on two reclaimed brick pillars. We don’t want to have an ugly plastic trap and waste pipe underneath, but I can only find 32mm chrome botlle traps and I need a 40mm one. Anyone have any suggestions?

Also the original waste pipe behind the stud wall is push fit so it needs to be able to connect to that!!

Thanks in advance.

I am at a loss to understand why you are having trouble finding 40mm/11/2" chrome bottle traps. Google threw up dozens of results when I put in chrome bottle trap 40mm.

Any local independant merchant will have them or be able to obtain one in a day or so.

Yeah I tried using Google too. All of the results look good until you click on them and read them. They all turn out to be 32mm. I would prefer chrome plated to chrome effect. I will try local plumbers merchants at the weekend.

Thanks for that Charnwood. Very helpful and good use of the word codswallop!

Sorry for being thick but... This is the one I want and will be going to plumbers merchant to get one:

Can I get a chrome waste pipe to fit this and will it fit into the plastic 40mm push fit elbow I have in the wall?? I think this is where I will fall down!

Forgive the intrusion - just cruisin' - you'll need a short stub of 40mm pipe to connect the elbow into your new trap.
There's no need to see it though if you cut it short enough.
John :)

Not wanting to **** on your strawberries, but McAlpinr traps are plastic, so the one you are looking at in that link may well be chrome effect.
