Is there a propriety product available you can put on top of the joists to prevent future squeeking ?

Chipboard is not dense enough to hold screws or nails securely , will always end up squeaking.

As above ,yes essentially chip board is rubbish, but fulfills the need for cheap flooring that can be fitted quickly, some builders do combinations of mastic on the joists to help even out lumps and bumps, especially on old joists ,glued joints to generally stiffen it up and Spax flooring screws give a proper good bit of grunt to holding down the boards.

If you have access to the floorboard joints, you could try brushing/puffing talcum powder into them, this helps reduce the friction thereby the squeaking...pinenot :)

Plastic sheeting can be used as a slip membrane, but really the best way is to avoid it moving.

Use expanding polyurethane glue to bond T&G chipboard to the joists and in the T&G, and screws to hold it down.

You will have less success with PVA as it won't fill up the voids as well, and isn't as strong a bond.

As you said something to put on top of the joist, for future floors- caberfix joint and joist adhesive is quite good we use it when it is supplied and have never had a squeaky floor so far. It's polyurethane based but thicker than the regular foamy glue. Obviously used in conjunction with your regular fixings.
