We laid a new lawn last year and the worms have caused havoc with all their casts so we are going to roll it. It's also due its first cut of the year, should we roll first, or mow first?

TIA,
T

you need to sweep or rake the casts first or you'll just smear them in.

What is your aim in using a roller on it?

We've picked the casts up.

We're hoping to level out the bumps a bit which weren't there when we put the lawn down. So, roll or mow first?

Don't roll at all, IMHO. You can do more damage if you dont know what you are doing (compacting lumps is not a good plan)

as wabbit says trying to compact it more will be bad for the lawn.

top dress low spots to raise them and very bad humps your better off cutting the turf off and then remove a little soil underneath and replace
