Screws for cedar cladding

I'm considering two options for screws for my garage's cedar cladding.

Spax ones:

Anyone have any opinions? I'd prefer the Spax ones, but they're four times the price! I'm worried the regular ones will look a bit crappy, as the heads will finish flush with the surface. Anyone know of any screws that are like the spax ones, but cheaper? Using the spax ones will come to around £200!

I'm going with screws rather than nails as the battens I'm fixing to are 25mm ones and screws will have better a purchase into the limited amount of wood. For nailing, I'd need around 45mm of wood.

Any other ideas also welcome!

Compressor, nail gun and 32mm brads. Or 50mm if there's timber behind the battens. Works for me.

Hmm. The cladding is 20mm thick, so 32mm brads would only leave 12mm into the batten, which doesn't seem like enough to me. There's masonry behind the battens.

Stainless annular ring nails at 45mm would be the nails I'd use, if I was reasonably sure they'd hold.
