What would be the best way to make this gaplook tidy?

Dear all;

We've just had an exactor fan fitted, and are now left with a rather large gap around the pipe where it exits our external wall.
Normally I would use decorator's chalk to fill in any gaps, but as you might see from the picture, the gap is rather too wide for it this time! Would it be best to use an expanding foam? Or perhaps a 'pie collar'?
Thank you in advance for your help!

Many thanks! The wall plate sounds like a great idea! (My other half likes plastering a little too much I am afraid so any solution that doesn't involve plaster is a better on from my point of view! haha)

Ah yes, a small typo, sorry about that :oops:. Although pie collars do exist... I just wouldn't want to put one around a pipe like this as would likely attract mice...

I'd use a bit of deep fill filler, leave it a bit short of the surface and allow it to set for a few days (& shrink). Then go back to it with normal surface filler, sand back and paint.
