I need to remove a radiator from a wall temporarily. All my radiators don't have any method of turning the heat up or down. My question is what do I need to loosen in order to remove it from the wall? I have attached pictures of it. Many thanks.

You need a manual shut off valves for the thermostatic valve (pin visible) and a spanner for the lockshield one (square spindle)

The thermostatic one, you could pinch a head off another and close it down. Just make just it does shut off and isn't in frost mode (slightly open)

If both those valves are closed you will still need to drain down the sytem, unless you have some other valves for shutting off the flow and return pipes.

Not if he only wants to remove that 1 rad.
Obviously that rad will still be full of water though.

Perhaps I have missed something. Why would the OP need to drain down the system to remove
the radiator with both valves closed?

Maybe he wants to leave that rad and temporarily remove the rest of the system:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

If you only need to move the radiator away from the wall to paint / maybe plaster, you might get away without removing it altogether if there is enough slack in the pipes. Consider:

1. Big old towels under each valve.
2. Blocks of wood height of radiator valves to take weight on floor in front of radiator.
3. Both valves fully closed.
4. Slacken (not undo) both nuts (chrome, hexagon) attaching the valve to the radiator (not the valve to the pipes). Left hand one 1/2 turn, right hand 1/4 turn.
5. Lift radiator off brackets and swing forward and down to rest on blocks.
6. Tighten both nuts again.

Refitting is reverse of removal, but slacken 1/4 turn left and 1/2 turn right.

If (albeit unlikely) not enough wiggle room to remove valves from rad, then it would be necessary to remove rad with valves attached.

Jesus what a load of drivel!!

Get a cable tie & strap it tight over the TRV pin & around the valve, shut off the LS radiator valve(left one), disconnect one at a time & connect a 15mm compression pipe end plug on the valve tails. That way you can just lift the full radiator off the brackets, take it outside & drain it.
