Do I need to use half bond for block work corners?

Soon to be doing a retaining wall for the garden and will have a 10ft back with the sides coming down 5ft or so from the corners.

Wondering if I have to use half bond or can I just build the corners like normal brick? Just like Lego. Then the only cuts would be at the ends.

I've tried googling a reason as to why I should use half bond but surely it doesn't matter?

Half bond is stronger than quarter bond

Lego will be half bond
Normal (ie stretcher bond) brick corners are half bond

Ah ok thanks for the reply.

I watched a YouTube vid and he called it half bond when he done 3/4 to 1/4 block for every other course.

I'll stick with Lego bond seeing as my concrete blocks will be laid flat and it's not exactly holding back a mointain.
