Block Building Corners and Door Opening

Hi;

I am building a garden workshop / shed consisting of single skin block walls about 3 - 4 courses high, the remaining height will be made up of a shiplap clad wooden frame.

Questions:
1. For the door opening and corners do I need to double up on the blocks or at this height is it not required.

2. Will it be ok to drill / bolt the door frame into the single skin block door opening?

It won't matter and you can bolt the door no problem.

Obviously just built it so the corners are keyed into each other.

I was annoyed recently that someone tried to kick or barge open my sturdy back gate, hard enough to start a split round the lock. I have been busy this week repairing it and reinforcing with a steel plate and extra bolts.

I can see now that if I'd strengthened it before the attack, it might have been undamaged. It's less than a year old. The frame is 8x2 joist and the door is 44mm LBF with a 5-lever deadlock, so I thought pretty good.

In your position, I think I would put a return or a pier at the doorway, it will be little extra cost and effort while you are building it. Your workshop might be thought to have power tools or other attractive goods in it.

Going by the pictures in the other threads, the size, and the fact that the shed is mostly timber frame, I'd say don't bother with piers.
