I'm puting in a substitute grundfos pump 15/60 from China but it doesn't have L N and earth terminals. There are six wired terminals as follows (see image):
1C2 N L5 4 3C1 and 2
Can someone tell me where live, neutral and earth go please?
Thanks for coming back. I have tried googling. Instructions just say connect to L N and earth. The pump came with the wires attached in these positions.
1. It almost certainly doesn't meet UK or European standards. Not sure what your insurance position would be if it started a fire.
2. Unless it has some clever clogs electronics, it will almost certainly have one winding, possibly with a starting tap, and a capacitor.
3. Try working out from the old pump where the winding and capacitor leads / terminals are connected in relation to the live and neutral connections.
4. For the new pump, try and work out where the winding and capacitor leads / terminals are, then map those to the live and neutral.
5. The earth should be connected to the body of the pump. Use a multimeter to check continuity of the body to each terminal to work out which is earth.
Pumps from reputable suppliers will have had all this sorted out, and the cost of compliance with relevant legislation is one of the reasons they cost more.
