Hi,
I have purchased a 2-gang Energenie light switch for my garage because I want to control the external garage wall light remotely.

The garage light switch is currently a 2-gang. One of the gangs controls the outside light (1 way) and the other gang controls the internal garage light and is wired in a 2-way configuration with a light switch that is adjacent to another entrance to the garage.

I have successfully changed a 2-Gang 1-way switch for an Energenie RF switch. It is the 2-way wiring that is giving me a headache.

Above is a picture of the wiring.

The Energene switch has connections L (common 1),L1 (Line Out 1), Lx (Common 2) and L2 (Line Out 2). It also has an S connection for a slave switch that I do not intend to use.

Basically I want to remove the switch completely that is by another Garage entrance and replace the 2-gang standard switch with the Energenie unit.

Can someone explain simply how I remove the 2-way wiring and then reconnect pin 2 gang 1 way configuration for the 2 lights?

Although I can guess what the wires are in your picture, I can't be 100% sure. The three red wires in top 1 way on picture is permanent line you can see link to com, but which of the other two is line in and which is line out to second switch I have no way to work out.

However the yellow with red sleeve must also be one of wires to second switch so you should be able to identify which cable goes to second switch.

So
L = one of reds in top switch 1 way.
L1 = blue in 2 way also top switch.
L2 = red in bottom switch 1 way.

But I can't work out which of the reds in top switch 1 way is which.

Blindly following instructions to put-this-wire-in-that-hole without any idea as to why, without knowing what, and truly understanding what, you are doing is unwise.

The instructions do seem lacking, there as S1 terminals and with this one S1 and S2 terminals yet at least with mine no reference in the instructions as what the S1 and S2 terminals are for.

I looked at the Energenie MiHome website and there is nothing about connecting to any slave device, it shows the terminal and calls it slave. I have found reference to 5 to 250 watt on some adverts, but nothing in the instructions, which seem to concentrate on how to pair with remote or hub.

Mine has three remote controls and the hub all connected to same switch, once you have created an account then you can ask for help, however the MIHO045S is marketed as a slave switch with the instructions for the slave still does not show any connections between the two switches, one would assume slave is connected to slave, however nothing in instructions or wiring diagram to say that.

In my case I have other devices and as a result the hub, so I can set times, and use IFTTT, and it was fitted so I did not need to wire a two way switch, if I was stopping in this house I may have wired as two way.

I fully understand why the question is asked, the instructions are in the main accessed through the web site, so until you have registered device you really don't know how to do half of the functions.

But if someone knew what was going on here....

Thanks to ericmark for your help. I should be able to identify the cable for the second switch now, remove it and then fit the new Energenie.
Ban-all-sheds - if I wanted to be an electrician then I would study for it. My choice was to call a qualified electrician or see if I could get some useful advice and attempt it myself. You call it unwise - I call it efficient use of my time and money.

There are no exemptions from the laws of physics for DIYers. Unlike many areas of DIY, (eg painting and decorating, plastering, carpentry), electrical work must be done as safely and competently as it would be by an electrician.

And useful advice was what you got here. Follow it and you'll have no problems when you attempt the work yourself.

This is the circuit you have for the 2 way from Chimi's first link:

Energenie seem to deliberately limit the information they supply; presumably to support their installers.

I'll try and help....

The 3 red wires together are always live
The blue and yellow together are switched live. i.e when you connect them to the previously mentioned red wires the light will come on.

The yellow wire with red sleeve must be safely insulated (used for 2 way switching)
