I have found a tiler to fit new wall tiles in the bathroom. We want to install vinyl click flooring. The tiler is happy to either tile down onto the new floor or tile down to the chipboard flooring and then I will lay flooring up to the tiles. For me the first option will give the neatest finish bearing in mind there has to be an expansion gap for the vinyl flooring. If we went with the first option is there still a silicone bead needed at the joint? I am thinking that the silicone would inhibit expansion and contraction of the floor.

Normally, we tile down to the flooring and finish with a clear bead of silicone. It's fine with expansion.
