Removing Stairs: Solutions to Extending Joists

The way it worked is the architect got a proposed design from the structural engineer, then asked for changes within the budget eg flush ceilings, which the SE then redesigned to suit.
Anybody else had any experience of what architects and structural engineers do :?::D

Depending on what section-size your joists are, it would probably be feasible to replace the wall with a double or triple timber trimmer, supported off joist hangers on the joists at the head and foot of the stairwell.

What does that mean?
it means ' The way it worked is the architect got a proposed design from the structural engineer, then asked for changes within the budget eg flush ceilings, which the SE then redesigned to suit.' doesn't really tell the original poster anything with regard to a solution to their query .
Call it sarcasm I suppose ,but really should leave that sort of thing to woody :!::)

I'm sorry, well since you raised the topic, I was under the impression the OP thought they needed to make suggestions to the architect on feasible constructions.
I can sympathise well, as we had no idea how to deal with architects, builders and SEs at the beginning, so I thought sharing my experience would be helpful.
Maybe the OP is totally confident that it's their responsibility to do the structural design, and literally just need the answer, but I didn't get that impression so I thought I'd use my empathy to give a more helpful response.
Maybe everyone else knows as much as you, if so I'm sorry for wasting everyone's time.

Ok, but don't know why anybody would think it was their job to advise the architect on suitable forms of building construction . Anyway , woody summed it up several posts back -
The idea is that the client tells the designer his needs and requirements, and then the designer translates that into something that can be built - technically, meeting the client's brief and within the client's budget.
