Hi, I'm preparing my kitchen walls for a plasterer on Tuesday and that also involves removing all old wallplugs and other bits and bobs from the previous owner.

I've been trying to remove this today but without much luck, the screw head is just worn out/rusted and won't turn at all. Any ideas on how to get it out? I've been avoiding drilling next to it and creating a bit of a mess and a bit nervous of the cold water pipe above.

Could try cleaning the paint from screw head using thin flat bladed screwdriver, or utility knife, and try to remove the screw. Failing that as per above, or use a pry bar or utility bar.

Claw hammer behind it and lever it out, god knows how the stop valve is spposed to work in that postion though!

You might manage to get the tips of a set of molegrips to clamp onto the screw-head. If so then simply twist out (anti-clockwise)

Thanks for the suggestions - couldnt gain traction with any of the suggestions in the end, so instead I used a pair of bolt cutters I bought a while back and just ate away at it
