Yes it does. A dedicated radial circuit is required ,as would any instantaneous electric shower.
 
It would need to be on a separate 40 amp circuit breaker with the correct size cable to withstand the current.

can I get something that would run off of a 13amp circuit?

Is this so you can unplug it and take it with you if you move house? A shower needs it’s own circuit and certainly not 13Amp.
 
With a 1.2m cord to plug into ones extension lead as there won't be a wall socket close enough. Wrapping the extension lead in a plastic bag is an optional safety recommendation.

A 13amp circuit is only capable of running a 2kw appliance. That's why most electric fires are only rated upto 2kw, to make them more or less plug & play with a 3 pin plug. Same with a kettle. If you want an electric shower, you are going to have to bite the bullet and dip your hand in your pocket to have one installed correctly.
