Having a bit of a mare with a couple of steels the have been delivered this week.
We have a 7m 203x203x86 beam holding up rear of house and a 203x133x25 beam that connects to it to hold up an upstairs return wall. The connection specified was notching and welded end plate with 4 bolts that connect into web of larger steel. Fairly standard stuff. So apart from the bottoms not lining up as specified the notch on the smaller beam is huge, nearly a third of the beam depth. Are there guidelines on maximum depth of notch allowed, I'm sure this affects structural integrity of beam.
Thanks in advance, Ernesto.
