hi all.

I moved into a house with 2 sticking out cesspit drain lids. Plz see the picture attached.

We want to put a larger patio down but these 2 things look like they will ruin it.

I want to know if anything can be done with these to make them flush with the ground??? Or what other options I have?

Hope somebody can help
:)

Whats it like when you take a lid off?
Can you show a pic of in the hole with the lid removed?
As there may be room to reduce the height, there may not.

I doubt you can slice the top off, it would likely need the whole thing digging out and lowering which would be way too much to do.
How about raising the level of the existing ground until the covers are flush?

I'm thinking the only option will be to disguise them as some sort of feature now ‍♂️

Thank you for the help. They are too high in relation to the house so not too much can be done really. But thank you

How about 1 is built up as the BBQ and the other is built up as a planter?

To be honest they've probably been built like that on purpose. Cesspits/septic tanks by their nature harbour Hydrogen Sulphide gas, (produced by the activity in the tank), which will fairly rapidly corrode steel and concrete.

Never
trust one of those covers to hold your weight, (or even that of a child), if they're up in the air like that, there's a lot less risk of someone unwittingly walking over the top of them and possibly falling through.
