Hi Folks,

Probably a laughable question to those in the know.

On a house we purchased last year, having come to decorate some of the rooms, i've noticed some of the interior window sills have these round things intruding the wooden sill.

I am guessing these are one of two things, either a nail head that's popped out (looks a bit big for a nail head) or a cover for a screw fixing underneath.

I was going to leave it to our decorator to advise but I was curious as not seen this before.

Thanks...

Put something in the photo for scale please.

In a wooden window board, it might be a countersunk screw hole that has been plugged (if it used to be varnished hardwood) or filled. But they look a bit random.

How old is the house?

Thanks for the reply...

These are actually in the extension about 10 years old... Here's another example with better scale.

I still don't know the size. Scratch one. I think it will be a wooden plug, but might be filler.

as john d says could just as easilly be filler as wood has shrunk filler/pelet/plug has not
