Misheard lyrics

I could never understand "Blinded By The Light" by Manfred Mann:

"Wrecked up like a dooshan"

What's a dooshan?

Some years later I heard the Bruce Springsteen original, and the line is "Revved up like a deuce", which didn't make any more sense but at least it was a line of proper words.

It means revving up ones motor vehicle, Deuce being a nickname for a Ford Coupe

Sorry, I'll be pedantic; 'A Deuce Coupe' is a 1932 Ford with the 'deuce' referring to the '2' of 1932. That model year was one of the easiest years to work on and modify (by taking body panels off), install different motors; one of the 'Hot Rodder's' cars of choice, particularly in the 1940's.

ZZ Top's 'Eliminator' car is a '34 Ford Coupe.

Thanks! Now I understand.

I never really liked the song though, I much preferred "Davy's On The Road Again". That was a brilliant song.

Manfred Mann turned 80 a couple of weeks ago btw.
