A neighbour asked for help, they recently moved from number 23 [house] to number 12, [bungalow].

One metal switch in the property, a 2G SS flat plate, and their son complained about getting a tingle from it so he changed it for a white switch.

Now the 2W hall switch operates either hall or outside, outside 1W does nothing and the other end of 2W switch switches both on.

There are no earth wires and it was wired exactly like the sketch made before removing the metal switch athough the terminal positions are in different places and he did try wiring by location which gave a different set of errors.

EDIT: I made the assumption the 2x3C cables are grouped to the left and right.

The LH RWB should be R - C, W - L1 and B - L2
The RH RWB should be R - C, W - L2 and B - to LH switch L1 (L1 and L2 maybe interchanged)
And link C - C

Totally correct except my interpretation was he mixed the 2 cables up.

My prediction being the left red on C with strapper should be 'perm L' and right red being a strapper should be switchable.

I did 2 tests with a LED screwdriver and found them to be opposite to predicted so swapped the 2 cables round.

The other 2 requests for help today turned out to be smart switches not working due to loss of remote server. What idiot invented switches controlled by a third party from the other side of the pond?
And worse what idiots install the silly things?
