No, they're going to reduce the size AND increase the price!

Dunno tbh

may be it’s to supply it’s biggest market Scottish chippys or to get into the Scottish chippy market

Or they have a deal set up with Colgate or the British dental association to boost sales and bussiness

Transam, is this a reference to the "deep-fried Mars bar", a delicacy north of the border. This particular item of confectionery has nothing to do with Cadbury's, it's made by Mars-Wrigley of Slough, Berkshire!

Well cadburys are probably eyeing up the market and attempting to muscle in on it

dare say they will come up with a similar planetary name

I dunno the Uranus bar

"The move, whilst not creating any new jobs, is seen as a huge boost for post-Brexit UK business, and has been welcomed by trade unions"

No new jobs.....I wouldn't call it a "huge boost"

So they get all the old employees back on new contracts.
+1 for Cadburys... :)

Maybe it's the only way they can their factory workers vaccinated.

Obviously their planning an ultra modern production line, but it would be silly to claim that an additional 12,000 tons of chocolate (125 million bars) is not going to create any extra jobs.
Perhaps not on the production line, but I suspect they would at least need a driver to shift that lot to wherever it's destined.

So Cadbury is owned by Mondelex a USA company.

And what a surprise.....an American company that doesn't pay any UK corporation tax

"Mondelex: was able to pay no UK corporation tax as a result of a Channel Islands-based bond, despite Cadbury making £96.5m profit in 2014"

We shall see more of this kind of stuff given the US lobby groups are heavily targeting this govt.

I wonder who benefits from this deal.

Brexit will see US businesses move here and pay no tax.....good for billionaires bad for the public.

When the Americans bought Cadbury, they promised to keep the UK factories opn.

Then closed them.

You can't trust people. You need a watchdog with teeth to make them behave.

"US food conglomerate Kraft has been censured by the body that polices City takeovers for breaking the promise it made during the five-month battle to buy Cadbury to keep its Somerdale factory in Somerset open.

The decision by the Takeover Panel to issue its first public reprimand for three years also sparked the resignation of its new director general, Peter Kiernan, who had advised Kraft on its £11.6bn hostile takeover of Cadbury.

Kiernan was the main adviser at Lazard in London, the investment bank representing Kraft in the City. While the bank did not receive the same public censure as its client, it is understood to have received a private one behind the scenes after the panel ruled Lazard had "failed to discharge fully its responsibilities" in ensuring information released by Kraft was verifiable."

"Keeping Somerdale open was a key pledge made during the controversial £11.9bn bid battle for Cadbury. Kraft reneged on it just days after winning control last month.

The American company insisted it did not know 'tens of millions of pounds' of equipment had been installed in a new Polish factory.

Firestone was hauled in front of the Commons Business Select Committee for a grilling on whether Kraft had misled workers, unions and politicians.

In a fiery exchange, the American lawyer claimed Kraft had acted in 'good faith', and was acting on limited information because the bid was hostile."

and

"In a programme aired Monday night, Dispatches presenter Harry Wallop claimed Mondelez International - the business in charge of Kraft’s confectionery brands - had broken promises made to the British public after the controversial acquisition."

"Hundreds of British jobs had been lost by decisions such as the closure of the Somerdale factory, he claimed, and the production of large quantities of Cadbury chocolate - including some Dairy Milk products - has been moved abroad"

"The programme alleged recipes of favourite Cadbury products had been tampered with, and staff employed at the chocolate brand’s flagship Bournville factory were put under pressure to perform with the threat of job losses. It also claimed Mondelez’s complex company structure meant it paid no corporation tax in the UK, despite owing what Dispatches calculated to be £24m for a single year."

Brexit will see US businesses move here and pay no tax.....good for billionaires bad for the public.

For the avoidance of doubt, the Cadbury takeover took place under a Labour Govt, in 2011 under a Conservative govt, laws were brought in whereby the purchasing company had to be more explicit about their future intentions for the company.
Tax regime would have been the same under both governments, tax regime would have been the same in or out of the EU.
Creme eggs going on sale in January would have occurred with either govt.

Surely it will bring employment though if businesses move here? It’s down to the government to plug the loopholes.
