Ring doorbell on a corporate system

Hi
How does a ring doorbell work?
Is it connected to the house wi-fi or use cellphone technology?

If wi-fi has anybody tried getting a Ring (type) device onto a corporate system? Ours is very protective about allowing computer access to the system. If you want to connect a device, it has to be registered and takes ages. If it isn't a PC or Mac, it throws them.

Ring goes via a server somewhere in China. I would imagine the administrator of a corporate system wouldn't be happy with third party equipment with a server elsewhere being given access into the corporate system.

Ring is an amazon company, the IT bods should be able to isolate it for you from the rest of the system?
