Hello

The boiler is downstairs and I need to connect a Drayton za5 to the flow pipe going upstairs... is this valve allowed to be placed upside down? the flow direction is correct but the valve will need to be upside down in order to save some space inside a tight cupboard.

It depends what you mean by "upside down". When you say it's in a flow pipe going upstairs, if that means it's in a vertical pipe then it could be positioned, with the flow arrow up, or flow arrow down as required by the installation it's being fitted to, and that's fine.

If you mean can the actuator head be below a horizontal pipe then the answer as above is no, as per the diagram in the instructions below. Motorised valves can leak from their operating spindle, and if the powerhead is below the spindle there's a risk of water dripping into it.

Yes, i mean it will be positioned properly, like water from A to B. but the actual drayton cover and writing will be upside down.... The flo pipe is going up into the ceiling, so the valve will have to be the other way around...

As long as its fitted with the direction of the water flow going from A to B the writing doesent know it is upside down

Well, as long as I keep the writing happy, it is all good.

Correction:

As long as I keep the face unhappy and the body happy, it is all good.
