Hi,

In our house, the shower tray is in an alcove, with a full length wall on one side and a shorter length on the other.

If you were to use a full length shower screen you would end up with that awkward gap between the wall and the screen. That's fine when you initially install, but becomes impossible to do any kind of maintenance and resealing.

The previous owners got around this by adding a batten and building out with wallboard. Again, this was fine until water got in and tired the batten.

We're about to replace it (because there was a leak that's done since damage) and so I wondered if anyone had any other ideas for this layout?

Cheers

I'd fully tile and seal the U shaped section and then just run a glass panel from the end of the short wall out to the end of the tray, using a support bar across the open end, you could even put an enclosure door on the end.

All you would need to do is using the wall channel just drill into the side and attach the channel to the tiled short wall with say 5 good sized screws and a little silicone to provide plenty of support.

Yip, @Madrab isright, just stick a panel on the ' short ' side. If poss, when you're replacing the tray, could you turn it around so the waste/drain is at the far end ?
