SGS trolley Jack

I did read the Arcan jacks that costco sell are very good quality.

The unit I bought for myself seemed good in the shop, but it was only after using it that I began to hate the poor design. It was a discounted item. I guess the old rule goes: You get what you pay for.

If I were to buy another, I'd look at the price range and go for something mid-way to three-quarters of the most expensive. Definitely not the budget version.

I'm a mechanic, self employed.

I've bought and used SGS, happy with them currently using 1 and a bluepoint (snap on).

I've bought and used Weber, happy with them but cost a lot more, probably the best.

Have bought and used, sealey, Clarke (machine mart), and Halfords.

All apart from the last sealey 1 I had, have been good, safe and controllable. The sealey 1 was returned ( repaired under warranty in fairness) twice. I buy a new jack every year, it saves having to have it tested for insurance, so the sealey wasn't the biggest issue as I keep them 2 years. But if it's your only jack it would be an issue.

When you start looking round you see that many are the same (or very similar) re badged Chinese items. Quality is important, but I can't suggest any that are much better than sgs, other than Weber, but look at the price difference

In the end I plumped for an sgs 2.5 tonne low profile trolley jack. Arrived today.
