What is missing from my roof?

Hello, could somebody advise me what is missing from the roof in this photo please? 3 roofers have ghosted me so I'm trying to work out if it's DIY-able.

To my untrained eye, it looks like there should be an extra roof tile at the bottom, which would then have the end cap on it, a "dry verge" I think?

I'm a bit worried that if it does need a roof tile, that there might not be a batten to attach the roof tile to?

It looks like the roofers started the first course way too high. They could have made amends with some clever lead-work but didn't bother. The brickwork finishing is poor also. I'm wondering also if the bottom course of the left hand run, should have gone another half tile extra and left a cliff of masonry rather than a rake.

I doubt you'll have anything meaningful to fix to, that low down, in order to batten out another course. Best you can do is improve the masonry and line with lead.
