So why, when MNW67 posted about the legality of the shooting did you reply that he was

?
Not now, no time for your inquesition as you had to be there at the time, you obviously wasn't so not going through all that again. Leave it to MNW67 as he knows what the reasons were.

Is that a legal thing to do?

I have already said, many times, that the first shot might have been lawful.

But to break down what is actually happening in that video.

The NY Times have synced all the available videos and this is what they have worked out:

That thud we hear isn't the car hitting the agent. Basically, the agent sees the car coming slowly forward and leans forward, placing his left hand on the bonnet to steady himself to shoot. His left hand is holding his phone. That thud is the sound of his phone bashing down on the bonnet. We then see a picture of the sky. Many assume that is because the agent has been knocked over. But what actually happened is that the phone twists in his hand and starts pointing upwards.

Even in the U.K. you’d get a use of force if you refused to comply with an order.

If you resist you will get more force.

You should always comply with a genuine order. You can sue for wrongful arrest later.

If the order isn't lawful is the use of force?

I would accept that he might have suffered some minor bruising. I don't accept that he nearly died.
Given the no hindsight rule and the US court’s reluctance to allow prosecution of LEOs who shoot in the heat of the moment under perceived threat, that doesn’t leave much chance of a prosecution.

I’m sure there will be a civil damages claim which will go the same way.

At last, so you accept the first shot was legal, the timing of the other two shots were consistent with the first and it is obvious that she wasn't shot 3 times in the face as some others had suggested. So that's that then. Let us now have the thread locked and left at the point this was all above board.
