sorry I caught you out again.
Until humans are safely back from tramping around on Mars, you've caught no one out.
You'll be dead long before it happens.
sorry I caught you out again.

Yes I know but I was answering your question about why they flew past the moon rather than landing on it.Mars. The post was about mars.......

Your definition of Test is quite a stretch... NASA don't appear to share your opinion."test"
In other words, NASA are not currently confident that they could safely land humans on the moon.
Which is what some on here have been saying, repeatedly.

Maybe a good idea for DIYnot forum to set up its own space race against NASA as there seems to be plenty of space experts on here who have more knowledge than NASA. What a great advert for DIYnot to have that advert on the side of a rocket. It could be launched out of your garden as you have the runway lights?100 quid bet to anyone we will do it by 2050
Diynot will still be here hopefully
Nosealls too chicken to take the bet![]()
Absolutely. We can barely swing around the Moon.Interstellar space travel is impossible.
Great planMaybe a good idea for DIYnot forum to set up its own space race against NASA as there seems to be plenty of space experts on here who have more knowledge than NASA. Speed is the key.Absolutely. We can barely swing around the Moon.
What? That they have said it is theoretically possible? Forgive mankind if they don't break out the bunting and party poppers.I fail to see how anyone on here could argue against NASA and the space industry in general

Erm hasn't NASA just done it/?Absolutely. We can barely swing around the Moon.

You are more of a party pooper though so I suppose we can forgive your view. What? That they have said it is theoretically possible? Forgive mankind if they don't break out the bunting and party poppers.
Going to the Moon is like popping into the kitchen, in terms of space travel. It all manageable and within touching distance of sanctity. Mars is a whole new ball game. We are not even in the vicinity of close. They did it with the Apollo missions in the 1969 and have landed 6 times. I don't think there is any doubt that they can do it. Only money is the reason for not landing.

but you just said..Mind-bending speed is the only way to reach the stars – here are three ways to do it
now you are saying we have 3 ways to do itInterstellar space travel is impossible.
At great cost, effort and much consternation. And that was straight forward and simplistic in terms of distance travelled.Erm hasn't NASA just done it/?
