But the copper’s action or inaction did not cause or contribute to the poor chap’s death.The copper is guilty of manslaughter, the householder clearly told him Henry had a mouthful of blood; Henry told the cop he had been stabbed; cop does nothing to verify this, instead handcuffing Henry with him face down in the dirt and barely moving.

100% agree - cuffing his hands behind his back would have made it harder to breathe and increased the rate he was bleeding out - but there was no intent to cause injury and the actions did not contribute to the death. The poor lad, had a vital vein cut deep in his chest, which was pumping blood into the cavity and crushing his lungs.It's the intention that matters. At the start of the film, the householder was showing some care for Henry - keeping him still and upright. The cop marched in and moved this man away and started manhandling Henry, which cannot have helped his stab wounds.
