Yeah, it does look like that. I've looked them up and I think they are called 'Gambrel' or 'Mansard' roofs.

Hard to believe 5 years has passed since my garden project (earlier in this thread) so thought I should perhaps add a photo showing how it has matured - though to be honest not by very much! The lawn is nice and lush, though the rockery still looks a little bare in this image. To be fair it is better and has something to offer in each season and I'm not seeking any huge triffids.
After two years of searching i finally found a competent team to put up a fence at a competitive price an' i'm ded chuffed to bits i am.
So i thought i'd share a before and after image: now all i gotta do is dig-dig-dig and get the garden looking like it belongs again.

After seven years the Acer has reached out to touch the lilac for the first time -
- although it won't reach maturity 'til the age of 20; by then i'm hoping it will provide a canopy over the path leading up the garden where frog can hunt for slithery critters in peace. (the curvy branch in front of it is the Robins lookout post but he never stays long enough for my camera.)

What am I going to do with the trees, can't believe how much they have grown in 5 years. Except for one fir tree,
and we cut it down, and put the Christmas tree to replace it, nearly 4 years, and still seems no bigger.
No idea but your apple tree looks fine.
Had a glance up at the pic i posted two years ago and the acer is about twice the size these days.
