Why can't they just take over one of the barely occupied CoE churches or cathedrals?

Then you will probably turn to religion at the point you feel you are aproaching it. Nothing wrong with that if it gives you any comfort. Regardless to the bellief, you will die anyway. I just don't see the point in it.
