Texecom Veritas 8 set up help

I replaced my old alarm panel with a Texecom veritas 8 over the weekend and have been trying to set it up tonight. The wiring is all correct and I was working throiugh the various settings from the manual. I changed the 4 digit code to the one that I would be using. I know it accepted this as I could use it to enter programming mode.
I went to try it on full set for the first time. Entering the code plus FULL caused it to flash the unset LED a couple of time but it wouldn't set the alarm.
Eventually I got it to count down the exit timer, I think by pressing FULL on its own. I let it go into alarm, but then it wouldn't stop and reset when I entered my code.
Panic stricken I whipped the front off and disconnected the battery and pulled the fuse.
My brain is now frazzled and my tinnitus through the roof and I'm leaving it off overnight. Anyone familiar with this product shed any light, anything to check, anything I'm missing with the parameters?

The user code is not the engineer code ….so you have changed the engineer code …not the user code which should still be 4321

I think you are on the right lines. I'll be trying again later, but looking at the manual, it says Option Code 60 is under the title Program your own code PIN. I think that was the one I changed from the factory setting of 1234.
Just to get the terminology right, the user code is the one I'll be using to set and unset the alarm. Is there anything else I use this number for.
What exactly do I use 4321 for?

Eng code alters the alarm configuration it won’t set or unset the alarm ..
User code sets alarm …you can’t alter the configuration ….

Sounds like you may have a setting or zone condition preventing the system from setting normally. I’d check the exit route, zone programming, and any entry/exit or reset parameters first, as well as whether the code you changed is actually assigned as a valid user code. Since you’ve already powered it down, it’s probably best to leave it until you can go through the manual calmly and check each setting one at a time. Hopefully someone familiar with the Veritas 8 can point you toward the exact parameter you need.

All sorted now. Thanks for all the input.
I ended up carrying out a factory reset and working through the manual again. I reckon I did change the factory set engineer code which was 1234 as opposed to the facrory set user code of 4321. Perhaps if they made the latter something like 9999, it may be less confusing.
It's the first alarm I've changed in around 30 years and they certainly have more parameters to set up these days.

It’s a common mistake to confuse engineers code with user code.

Veritas at default is setup for quick arm ie pressing full no user code required.

So people entering a code and pressing full, is the same as pressing full, but as the system starts setting people think it’s a user code and can’t unset it!!!

They used to have a different way of changing the codes for engineer and user.

It’s been the same process as it is now since around 96/98. Veritas has not changed drastically since then.

Like everything if your unfamiliar something it can take you a little longer to get your head around things.
