20a IEC connector on a welder

Yes I'll be staying with a 13a 3 pin plug. The only 'negative' to the c20 connector is if someone used it when I wasn't there then potentially they could use any old iec cable instead of the one I'd have specifically for it but given it's in my private garage it's a small risk. I think I'll go...

20a IEC connector on a welder

Would this commando panel socket be suitable? Or should I go with a 32a panel socket, albeit I'd assume the 16a socket has been tested to have a safety margin over 16a? https://www.toolstation.com/wessex-ip44/pAC274

Just bought an old car any advice welcome.

Not wanting to detract from some of the knowledgeable guys in here but I'd sign up at, https://www.fordownersclub.com/ It's a very good ford forum, they've helped me with a few different issues on my mk3 focus, there's also a faq sections that covers most common issues with each generation.

20a IEC connector on a welder

So I've been back into the garage having listened to what's been said. That's my welder, looking at it again I suspect I can squeeze a commando inlet on the right between the wire feed knob and the 1/2 setting switch. Ill need to get an inlet and see. Thanks, Chris.

Would something like the below be more suitable then? https://www.12voltplanet.co.uk/ip67-waterproof-3-pin-panel-mount-locking-connector-socket-1224v-dc-20a.html

20a IEC connector on a welder

Sorry John I don't want to question your vast knowledge but why isn't a c20 suitable for 20a when advertised as such? https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/iec-connectors/7769135 And why do you think it would be unsuitable in the situations a welder may be used in? Thanks, Chris.

20a IEC connector on a welder

Hi all, I have a sealey supermig welder and was looking at making the power cable removable when not in use. Normally I'd expect to use a blue commando socket but in this application it's not going to fit the case so I was thinking about using a c20 iec connector with the male socket mounted on...

    Mini inspection chamber extension.

Severn trent would find a workable solution, they'll have inherited far worse setups when everything was adopted.

Cost for bricking up a small window?

As has been said, have bash at it yourself it's a fairly easy project to start with and as it's out the way won't matter if it's not perfect. Another option is to measure up the opening and keep an eye out on ebay or the like for an old upvc unit that's about the right size, you can get upvc...

    What have you bought today?

A pair of these for the princely sum of £1.79 from euro car parts so I can convert the earth lead on my mig welder to a dinse fitting

    Buying a car online?

If your buying it online unseen then insist on paying at least £100 of it on a credit card, if the selling company refuses then walk away.

Is my quote inline with industry costs? in UK

Get someone else in to quote for the work then you'll know, if your builders any good he'll understand it's a large unexpected cost and you need time to look at your options

    Outside Boiler Box Idea

I think we're discussing a box on a current outside wall that will become internal to the garage once built. I did similar with our consumer unit as it was in the old conservatory we demolished but that was alot simpler as I only had to make it water proof not frost proof.

'UK has been colonised by immigrants'

Unfortunately that is going to continue to happen, individuals with connections to government are making large amounts of money out of these immigrants and as such will pressurise the government to ensure they keep coming

    Have you made your Will?

My third option is to emigrate for my old age, the going rate for a care home in Thailand is about £500 a month and both the wife and I like Asia.

Took the broken engine out of my mazda bongo camper, hopefully get the new one in ready for spring.

    Have you made your Will?

It's again a failing of all governments over the last 30 years, Instead of dealing with the work shy who take from the system they penalise those who work more and more taking whatever you've earned.

    Have you made your Will?

Unfortunately the above statement is also flawed as if you earn alot and have spent your working life avoiding paying your fair share of tax then you should pay your care home costs, I also feel the same about those who've taken large amounts in cash in hand to avoid paying their fair share.
