20a IEC connector on a welder

Yes I'll be staying with a 13a 3 pin plug.

The only 'negative' to the c20 connector is if someone used it when I wasn't there then potentially they could use any old iec cable instead of the one I'd have specifically for it but given it's in my private garage it's a small risk.

I think I'll go with the 16a panel socket given it now appears I do have space in the casing.
 
Even the Neutrik 16A one would suffice.
This would also prevent someone pinching the cable to run their PC :)
 
Having used loads of IEC connectors I'll vote for not using them for this application, they are not intended or designed for such use also as I've already mentioned I'd say the powercon type connectors are not far behind.
I'd happily accept £1 for everyone of both flavours I've replaced over the years, even outstripping BS1363 types.

Oh as an aside to this nobody would be pinching a C19 lead to power their computer, well they may pinch it to try but they won't get very far.
