I have removed some wall paper. A thin coating came off the wall too, in small pieces and in large areas. I guess this is the skim coat of plaster. How should I deal with this. Should I put another skim coat over the whole wall, or just where the original skim coat came off. Can I paint...

    Stone Wall Repair

Thanks DevilWorshipper The gaps between the bricks and the gap behind the brick is so large. I am not sure a gravel/sand/cement mix will hold. I was thinking to fill the holes with broken bricks and then use that as the base to point the wall

    Stone Wall Repair

Can anyone suggest how I can point this wall. The wall have large gaps between the bricks, but worse than that inside the gap, the gap widens. So it is hard to put mortar in, unless you are going to use a great deal of it. Also cement or NHL for the mortar? Thanks

    Opening in path

There is an opening in the concrete pathway next to the front door. See photos. I dug it out. I was expecting to find an old drain or pipework. However, there was no drains or pipes, just soil and at the bottom what appears to be sandstone Do anyone know what this was made for.
