A little help with a shopping list....

Afternoon all. So I've been collecting a bit of a shopping list for the new central heating install over the last month, and if you'd be so good, can you see anything obvious I've missed out? Intergas eco rf24 boiler Joule twin coil 250l unvented tank (titanium immersion) 2 Honeywell 2 port...

TRVs with automatic bypass? Or open rad?

Hello all. As per usual, there seems to be lots of conflicting advice on the net, so I need some direction from the pros! Would you suggest I run 1 or 2 rads maybe without TRVs, or would it be acceptable to run all the rads (including towel rads) with a TRV and then for an automatic bypass...

There were two snails on a cable ...

The one at the front definitely looks spurred on....

There were two snails on a cable ...

That cable could do with burying. You'll have to get a spark in and shell out for it. On the way back from the pub, Dave admitted he's a shell of the man he used to be. But he was still hardwired to chase the next current thing. He raced off into the garden steely eyed chased indiscriminately...

There were two snails on a cable ...

The one at the back kept moaning he wanted to be a pole volter. (2 for the price of one there!!) If there was a few more of them, would they be classed as the armoured division?

Brown soil stack if not in sunlight?

No it's definitely not painted. It's still the orange/Brown it came as. I don't actually know how long it's been there. We moved in last year at the end of October. The house is a 70's build but there's quite a few bits that have been changed over the years.

Brown soil stack if not in sunlight?

Hello everyone. Hopefully maybe an easy one for you guys.... I appreciate the brown soil pipe is for underground.... but is it likely to be ok if it is in the shade permanently? I've got to tap in to the stack that's already there which is brown and I'm wondering if I should replace the lot...

Armoured cable to shed - advise please

I am literally in the process of doing just this, as in, I'm halfway through digging the trench! I spent some time reading about this...... and it appears there actually isn't any particular regs on the depth etc etc. From most that I read a depth of something like 60cm would be fine. Lay sand...

Hot water recirculation pump good idea? Grundfos?

That's exactly the same as me. Losing the old copper vented tank in the airing cupboard and moving the unvented tank to the garage which is why I figured I'd need a secondary return.

Hot water recirculation pump good idea? Grundfos?

That made for some interesting reading, thanks Dan etc. This is getting a bit daft now Dan, I'm basically fitting your system. Send me a shopping list! Haha. Ok a question about the return system.... If the return pump (grundfos comfort) is not running, the system will still allow the hot water...

Hot water recirculation pump good idea? Grundfos?

Well thanks boys! That's about as comprehensive as it gets. Copper it is then. (More bloody money lol) I've had a good read over the grundfos comfort pumps. I can't quite decide if the self learning ones are worth all the extra money. Also as a side note, there are essentially 4 pumps. 2 have...

Hot water recirculation pump good idea? Grundfos?

Thanks for the advice Bodd. I will happily pipe it in copper, but just for curiosity why can't the secondary return be done in plastic? I'll have a look at the grundfos site again and see if I can find it :)

Hot water recirculation pump good idea? Grundfos?

Yeah same as the pump. Brass or stainless. Which incidentally means it doubles in price lol

Hot water recirculation pump good idea? Grundfos?

You see, that's why I ask the pros! :) I'll fit the grundfos then. What's another 100 quid on 3k parts lol. Thanks so much for the help, and everyone else who joined in. Really appreciate it.

Hot water recirculation pump good idea? Grundfos?

Ok, totally with you on that. :) So, I'll plumb it into the mains in as you suggested. Now, I need a pump. Found a good grundfos but no timer on it. Although that's not exactly a biggie I can put a timer in a plug socket. What do you make of these...

Hot water recirculation pump good idea? Grundfos?

Wow, thanks so much for the info boys. Had a little Google of the occupancy sensors.... Wow how very cool! Only thing is, for instance in the kitchen if you pop to the sink to wash your hands, the hot water won't be there? I appreciate that in a toilet situation, it's a good thing as you aren't...

Hot water recirculation pump good idea? Grundfos?

There is something like that already from memory. Fits between the taps as such on the furthest sink. I'll have to have another look. @CWHEATING I'm going for a Joule indirect and from what I can see/read it's got a secondary return built in to it near the top. :)

Hot water recirculation pump good idea? Grundfos?

Thanks very much guys. I will be doing the work, well I'll run the return back to the tank/boiler spot and let the engineer (when I find one) do the last connections and check my work. I've got loads of armaflex insulation so I'll be using that on the flow and return hopefully. Everything i'd...

Hot water recirculation pump good idea? Grundfos?

Hello all, Hopefully a simple one for you guys. Firstly, is it worth installing a circulation pump on the hot water system? The unvented tank will be in the garage (back corner of the house), and the ensuite will be pretty much the furthest opposite corner to it so I'm thinking it could take...
