How do you install a threaded rod into a clamping lever?

Thanks. Sounds good. I do need the stud to be locked in, but I don't want a nut to hold it in. It needs to be screwed in as tight as possible without a nut showing underneath. The lever will receive a lot of force in both directions when in use, so needs to be tight enough that when it receives...

How do you install a threaded rod into a clamping lever?

The studding stays fixed inside the lever, it won't move up and down inside the lever. The lever is there to give leverage to tighten the stud into a hole the stud is screwed into. Not sure what you mean about not getting a lot of force.

How do you install a threaded rod into a clamping lever?

I have an M10 threaded rod 90mm length and I want to screw it into a clamping lever. How do I do this without damaging the threads on the rod and ensure it is as tight as possible? The lever will receive a lot of force in both directions during use so the rod needs to be rock solid. Hope someone...

How to attach a baton for a curtain rail to a wall

Can someone tell me how to attach a baton to a wall for affixing a curtain rail? I'm wondering about two options that I can see so far, the first is to glue the rail on, if so what type of glue would be best? Or secondly drill into the metal lintel, if so what type of drill bit would I need as I...

    Oil based mastic not drying

The fact that it is so soft. My kids will probably end up poking it or sticking sticks in it or something. It's bound to get knocked at some point and leave a big dent in it which won't look great.

    Oil based mastic not drying

If I don't like it, which I don't, how easy is it going to be to get rid of it? I think if I try and take it out it's going to make a right mess of the surrounding wall, is there stuff I can use to clean up the wall with?

    Oil based mastic not drying

How pliable are we talking? After 3 days it is still wet enough underneath its skin to stick to your fingers, will it get less pliable? Also is this a suitable sealant to use?

    Oil based mastic not drying

My builder has put an oil based mastic down the join between our new single story extension and our house and 3.5 days later it is still very soft, and wet underneath a skin. Is it meant to be like this? How long should it take to set? Also is this material OK to use for this job?

Water resistant Chipboard for EPDM Flat Roof

Mate the rest of the roof job was a disaster, we've had roofers out who have been shocked at how poor the job is. I don't have any other pics of them doing it. Thankfully our builders have admitted fault and are going to replace, however we're not exactly chuffed on them redoing as our...

Builders mastic sealant still not dry

Just been reading about sealants and I think he's used an oil based sealant. This link below explains oil based sealants which fits with what mine is like. I think I remember seeing oil-based written on the tube when he showed me it. http://www.countyconchem.co.uk/what-sealants-do-what.html...

Builders mastic sealant still not dry

What so it will always be soft??? No polysulphide mastic wasn't specified, just mastic, he said it was builder's mastic.

Builders mastic sealant still not dry

It's very soft to touch but does not stick to my finger, it's got a kind of skin on it which wrinkled up when I tried to smooth out the dent I'd made with my finger when testing if it was dry.

Builders mastic sealant still not dry

My builder put some builders mastic sealant down the join between our extension and our house on Monday morning and it is still very soft to touch 2 days later. Should it be? How long does this type of sealant take to dry? Surely it should be dry by now?

Water resistant Chipboard for EPDM Flat Roof

Thanks Richard, that is really useful, I think I'm going to have to insist that our builders use ply or OSB3. Is one better than the other? Also one of the points in the first link mentions that EPDM should not be bonded to felt. Our roof joins onto our neighbour's roof which is felt, so the...

Water resistant Chipboard for EPDM Flat Roof

Our builders who have converted our garage want to use water resistant chipboard to go under the EPDM. Any thoughts on this? I have heard this isn't a suitable material, although the building inspector seems to think it is OK. If it makes any difference, the chipboard is being laid on top of...
