    Wooden Gutters

Can anyone tell me how these old Victorian Wooden Gutters were made? My sister has a cottage in Yorkshire, where it appears the wooden gutters are rotted at the end blanking cap. The gutter length is fine, solid as a rock! Are this form of guttering actually secured to the building, or do...

Opening up 3" hole in wall to 110mm

Hi, The wall currently has a 3" approx diam hole passing thru to the outside , which probably was for a smaller clothes dryer machine. I have just bought a new clothes dryer which needs probably a 110mm hole. Any tips on setting up a Core Cutter rather than drilling around the...

    Cooker Hob Extracting Ducting

Hi, I forgot to mention the property is a bungalow. I can't run the ducting along the cupboard tops because the gas boiler has a vertical flue which blocks the run. Had the boiler not been there I would not fancy putting the outlet thru the lintel which is there. I think the extractor...

    Cooker Hob Extracting Ducting

I have moved into a house with a recirculting kitchen hob extractor. I intend to duct this to the outside via the loft to soffit grill. I am unsure if the plastic flexi ducting hose is really safe incase of a pan hire, where the flames maybe suct up into the loft and melt the flimsy ducting...

    Main Sewer under House Garage

Hi, Sorry, don't know about the sewer being Public or Private. All I can say is the sewer (on the map) runs from 6 houses along their back gardens but under the house/garage in question. Regarding the physical location of the pipe. As my friend only viewed the property and received the HIPs...

    Main Sewer under House Garage

I have just seen the HIPS details of property which my friend intends to purchase. The house, built 20-30 yrs ago, appears to have the main sewer (according to the sewer map) running under the property. The map shows the original development of approx 30 houses where this sewer runs to...

    Cannon Healey Cooker (Dual Fuel)

Problem now solved. Apparently the bayonet fitting had some how unclipped itself! My daughters all in one cooker uses electric for the oven and gas for the rings. However, when she tries to ignite the gas rings , the igniter sparks but no gas is emmitted or heard. The glass top...

    Boundary Ownership

Thanks for the info so far. I can see the 'T' on the deeds for the SE boundary . I can only just about make out the NE boundary markings on the 'Blue Cotton paper', it looks more like an inverted 'V'?? can this be so?? This boundary is not a Left or Right of my property, rather the...

Yes, your assumption matches mine. Thanks

    Boundary Ownership

An afternote. The " T" is too faint to read! On the deeds the description says" NE and SE" boundaries are my responsibility. There is a compass rose depicted on the deeds. If you take this forum text rectangle as an example of my plot of land having 4 sides and North is bottum left corner...

    Boundary Ownership

I chose this forum as I think someone here will know the answer ! The deeds of my property has a small map attached with tiny marks on the boundary/fence line. The marks I am told, indicate who is responsible for what regarding the upkeep of fence etc. The marks look like a letter 'T'...

    Siphonic Flush WC

Sorry guys, I am 200 miles away! From what I remember it is a bulbos shaped porcelain flushing thing, which appears to have a number of brass screws holding it together at the bottum. PS. Nothing like the photo in the link. The WC is very modern porcelain looking, and is Low flush...

    Siphonic Flush WC

The WC is low flush and has a 'bomb bell' bit that does the flushing. It does not look like any of the flushing things you buy at Plumb World etc. Thanks

    Siphonic Flush WC

Hugh, All I can say is! The flush compared with over the years has become a bit slow, resulting in not always clearing the pan fully and cleanly. Note. I suspect it is a 'dual' flush WC. It does have the big 'bomb shape part in the cistern.

    Siphonic Flush WC

Hi Seco/s. Yes the cistern is full. However, when the lever is flushed, water spouts up the thru the hole where rod passes thru into the chamber which starts the action of flushing. When I say it is slow! I mean the action of the water entering the pan and exiting. I don't mean filling...
