I just found an unopened 1 litre of Sentinel x100 that I bought around 2018. Still completely sealed in the clear plastic bag packaging. How long does this keep for / can I still use it?

Why put shingle around an underground pipe?

What is the reason they put shingle stones around a pipe underground? Is it purely for allowing drainage from overground?

Advice needed to power flush a home

Few additional questions: 1. what’s a hex replacement as someone commented before my last post? 2. Is it recommended to ever drain and flush out one’s complete central heating system (as a homeowner) once every few years to clean out potential dirt build up? I appreciate that the more fresh...

**** FINAL UPDATE **** So I finally got it sorted after 2 weeks of no hot water and intermittent heating. Had a power flush done at a cost of £470 for 13 radiators / towel rails. Each rad flushed individually whilst all the others were closed off (and the whole system rebalanced at the end...

    IP65 GU10 downlighting above a shower

I actually had 4 spare Sanlumia IP65 downlighters spare from when I built a new kitchen extension 4 years ago and as I mentioned and uploaded the earlier photo. However, it looks a bit ugly as the home is small and the bulb is further recessed in which prevents light from escaping. Hence I...

Advice needed to power flush a home

What is that gold thing on the central heating return if it’s not a magnetic filter? Because my home emergency policy won’t cover the replacement of the plate heat exchanger (which is now clogged) until I do a power flush, I still need to get this done asap. not sure how me trying to do a...

    Problem with Viessmann Vitoden 111-W

It has safety cut outs preventing it from getting any hotter and the fan throws out excess heat, so it’s fine. But that still needs sorting. The plate heat exchanger is blocked.

Advice needed to power flush a home

By open vent I take that to mean a small water tank in the loft? If so then no. It’s a sealed system and we top it up when it falls below 1 bar with a filling loop connected to the boiler. The boiler has a 40 litre tank combined in the combi boiler system itself.

Advice needed to power flush a home

It is never been “power flushed” if that’s what you mean. My parents have owned the house since 1970 but of course the system has been drained lots of times since then. Probably emptied completely and refilled some 3 or 4 times since 2017 when the new boiler went in at a different location...
