Is my immersion heater switched off?

Hey folks, Can any of you humour me for a daft question please? Was chatting with a friend last night that we seem to be using a lot of leccy, he said is your immersion heater on. I know it has always been unplugged so thought nothing more of it. I had another look and it's hardwired into a...

    Heavy objects in the boot

Thank you Avocet, that's a really informative post. I had a look and there are some metal rings, I have some ratchet straps so I guess it wouldn't hurt to tie the spare tyre down for the belt and braces.

New double glazing - possible fault.

Oh balls. Is there a remedy other than pucker up for a new pane of glass and laugh about it one day? Can I cut the lump out and fill the gouge with something? The instructions were a bit vague and I assumed the tape was just for transit handling purposes. Cheers Larry

    Heavy objects in the boot

Hey folks, Hope you are well? Based on a conversation I had recently with someone I thought I'd ask here. Where do you stand on the risk level of transporting heavy items in the boot? I drive extra carefully when taking a carful to the tip but generally didn't give too much thought to having...

Hey folks, I got some doors delivered for my garden room today and I can't see any drainage holes in the sill. There isn't anything in the instructions about creating them. If it's not too daft a question could you kind people tell me if I should make some before fixing the sill? Cheers Larry

My garden building design - advice welcomed

Having nearly done one, If you are using 8x2 OSB 18mm, which is great for the roof and floor, keep in mind that they are 590mm wide and not 600. I tried like yours to be close to the sheet size but end up cutting. It's not too bad if you take your time with a straight edge or use a fence on your...

    Quality wall repair

Yeah it's pretty bad right! It's a 1930s rubble wall at a relative's that is well past it's useful life. This was the second attempt after the postie allegedly knocked the first down opening the gate. Apparently the person (I don't know what trade they purport to be) will come back if it breaks...

Which way round to lay felt roof on my garden shed

Yes blocking off 3 sides will prevent water running off edges you don't want them to. You can fix a treated batten or similar to the gutter edge to help deflect water into the gutter.

Hey folks, I need to order some screws for my garden room cladding. I'm interested if anyone can please tell me if there is much difference in cheapo stainless steel screws and more expensive ones. I'm doing cedar tgv on the front and 12mm tgv matchboard on the sides and back. I'd like to do as...
