outside pir lights that last longer than 10 months

I'm not an electrician but a DIYer, and it makes little sense for me personally to spend a lot of money on floodlights, given that they're illuminated only occasionally Even though they might not be the best quality, they're likely to last longer because of that low usage. But I don't think...

outside pir lights that last longer than 10 months

I suppose “cheap and cheerful” does tend to come with some risk, but clearly others have had problems with more expensive options.

outside pir lights that last longer than 10 months

I bought LAP PIR floodlights ( bulbs non replaceable) from Screwfix for our previous bungalow and again when we moved here. The previous one was still working after about 7 years, the current one has been in place and working for almost 4 years. Never had any issues with them, and they're really...

    Questions about fencing

Thanks once again. In all honesty it’s a fairly gentle slope, so the “step down” will be minimal. However, the other side of the garden also need new fencing and it’s longer—about 15m—so this shorter run should provide a useful template.

    That’s very useful, thank you.

    Questions about fencing

Yes, the 4.5 m thing was a sloppy mistake and thanks for the pic. My slope is far less severe than the above but obviously the principle will be the same.

    Questions about fencing

Morning folks Planning to embark on a small fencing project ( about 9 metres in length, 4.5m in height ) using closeboard panels with concrete posts and gravel boards. Never done it before, so I'm researching like mad. Couple of questions on the above: firstly, the garden has a slight...

    connecting floodlight to a socket

Back in the mid 80s we bought a special noise-operated bulb for the dining room of our first house. You screwed it into the bayonet fitting like a normal bulb, but turned on the light by clapping your hands then turned it off the same way. Trouble was that the dog decided we were playing a game...

    connecting floodlight to a socket

Thanks for the reply. It’s on the 32 amp shower circuit MCB, and the consumer unit does have RCD protection.

    connecting floodlight to a socket

Afternoon all Looking for a bit of reassurance, mainly. On Monday I installed a 30w Lap floodlight on the rear wall of our property. Initially I was going to power it by breaking into the lighting circuit in the loft, but it would have meant taking up loft boards to access the cables, so a bit...

    Toilet seat fixings

Never seen anything like that before. In your situation I'd be doing the rounds of local plumbers merchants, where you might just find someone who would know where to get the right fittings or suggest a reliable way of adapting standard hinges to your situation.

    Cleaning silicone mastic

Probably asking the impossible here, but does anyone know of a spray, paste or product in any other form ( apart from bleach or mould killer ) which can be used to remove soap/shower gel/ shampoo stains from white silicone mastic? I fitted a shower tray last summer; the white mastic is already...

    Unstoppable Mold

I'm simply providing the benefit ( hopefully) of my own experience with log burners and cold, unheated rooms. Presumably yes, there was humidity with that hot air and that's where the condensation came from in the circumstances I describe. The walls would literally be streaming just minutes...

    Unstoppable Mold

Log burners give off a large amount of heat in a relatively short time. If you have doors open in unheated rooms with cold walls and the significant heat from a log burner suddenly comes into contact with those walls, you get condensation. In our previous bungalow we had a very efficient log...

    How Good are New Toilets?

Oh, I fully appreciate that those old toilets were made for an era when there were fewer concessions towards water conservation. It just so happens that I remember that impressive gravity-fed gush and the maelstrom that followed it with nostalgic affection, and compare it ruefully with the...

    How Good are New Toilets?

Glad it’s not just me who has a problem with new, rimless WCs. I installed a “bog in a box” about six months ago, and right from the word Go I was needing a bog brush and second flush for the first time in years. At one point I began to wonder whether the missus was putting glue in my food, so...

    Lifting glued-down cushion floor

Thanks for that and I hope you’re right. If I ruin the stuff it’s 130 quid down the pan, and me taking up residence in the garage. Will see what the carpet shop folks have to say, manana.
