Filling joints between plywood sheets before laying Amtico

Yes, it's timber joists. I assume you wanted to know because of the flexibility of timber joists?

Filling joints between plywood sheets before laying Amtico

Hi We have just built an extension for the kitchen and I am going to lay 40m2 of Amtico tiles. I have put 8x4 sheets of 6mm ext ply down but wanted to know what to fill the gaps with. I have laid Karndean tiles before but over a much smaller area so managed to get away without there being...

Two consumer units, okay or not?

I think maybe another reason for not managing to get a 12 way at short notice is that it needs to be an MEM unit. This is so that all our existing MCBs can be reused. I am going to see if I can find one in stock myself, what model MEM would be the one to get?

Two consumer units, okay or not?

I think he forgot about it as it's been a few months since we started work on the extension. They were supposed to come today, snowed in so has been postponed, and he rang last night. As it's going to be a while before I can arrange for them to come I will ask for a 12 way.

Two consumer units, okay or not?

That's exactly what the electrician proposes as he phoned me to ask the size of the existing CU and if there was any space at the side.

Two consumer units, okay or not?

Thanks for the reply. I think the local suppliers here in Inverness don't hold as much stock as in the rest of the UK.

Two consumer units, okay or not?

We are having the kitchen extension connected soon and the consumer unit needs to be replaced as there isn't a spare for the new electric cooker circuit. The electrician said we would need a 12 way but when he tried to get one locally they only had 10 way so he has suggested two 6 way consumer...

Ionisation and optical smoke alarms - Which where?

As I had been getting conflicting advice I contacted the local fire station and asked the community fire officer. He said optical upstairs and ionisation downstairs. Confused??? I know I am.

Ionisation and optical smoke alarms - Which where?

We have two mains smoke alarms interconnected, one in the hall and one on the landing. One kept going off in the middle of the night, and as they were about 14 years old, we thought it best to replace them. After reading about the different types we got one of each, ionisation and optical but...

MR16 downlights - Distance from joists?

I know that they have to be a certain distance from insulation, 100mm IIRC, but what distance from joists?

Can I use a wireless room thermostat with Worcester 20-25?

We have a Worcester Bosch 20-25 oil combi boiler but we don't have a room thermostat, instead we have TRVs on all but one radiator. We find that even on the lowest setting the lounge gets too hot so we have to turn off the boiler when it gets to 20 degrees. I have seen the wireless room...

    Kitchen downlight options

Thanks for the replies guys. Steve, the comment I made about 45 degree spreading the light much better was in comparison to the 25 degree spot. We do actually want to have a beam angle, but more of a flood than a spot which is why we have the 45 degree MR16s. We do want the same kind of...
