MR16 downlights - Distance from joists?

I know that they have to be a certain distance from insulation, 100mm IIRC, but what distance from joists?

I may be wrong but I don't think there is any specific distance.
Just use common sense, i.e. don't have a light right at a joist, where its likely to char/burn the timber.
A couple of inches away should be fine.

There is a specific distance and it will be provided by the maker.
They are not all the same.
The makers info will determine the distance on all sides and also the clearance above the fitting.
