true, but its not the MCB which trips, its the RCD. hoover is 1200watts. I=P/V = 1200/230 = 5.2 amps. why when i moved the neutral into the other bar without the RCD neutral in did it stop tripping?? the MCB is now on the incominbg side and its working fine now. cheers george

all sorted - got one from Eyre and Elliston in Stratford. It was an EATON MCB and EATON are exactly the same as MEM apparently but held in stock in more places!! cheers for the help people!! george

but wouldnt the cables, which feed the meter being removed, be supplying the circuit BEFORE the meter?? might not be a bad thing actually lol!!! george

ahh right. the plumber is fitting the FCU and he did say it would be a 3 A jobby. i need to take the supply from the CU still though once the meter is removed so should i use a 4 amp MCB in there (or one with a rating near to it)). cheers george

yeah doing that as well but want to protect the cable as well. the plumber is fitting the FCU by the boiler but this is for the supply from the CU. does that make sense/sound ok?? george

ok - bit of an update.. i have stripped the walls back to brick work and had plasterboard dot and dabbed onto the brick wall, and new board fitted to the stud wall. the walls havnt been skimmed with plaster or anything so do i need to seal them with some sort of paint before hand?? i want...
