How to deal with grout gap of Indian stone

I try for something like 15mm gap, usually have to cut the small ones down slightly, to get everything even. once down, I sometimes go around with grinder to correct any non-parallel tiles.

Porta Nailer Cleat Size for flooring (Ed.)

I used 50mm ones for solid oak to joists, using a nailer. Expect that you may have to punch the odd cleat in by hand here and there, they don't always go in 100%. I also used laminate flooring clamps to bring troublesome boards tight. I would also get a cheap plug cutter for any areas where...

    frag matt or not

Ditra mat will sit on a very thin bed of adhesive (use small notched trowel), as you press it into the adhesive, so more like a mm.

    Reclaimed bricks

No soil behind house walls. They should be cavity.

    Gravel on tarmac, best method.

Have an area of old laid tarmac, use to park cars on etc. It's in good condition, but I don't like the look of it. I would like to have a gravel area instead. I'm presuming I can't just put gravel on top of the tarmac? thinking of granite chipping 20mm ish. Would gravel grids work, or would...

    Concrete Bungalow Hole

You might need to take a wider photo, so we can see it with surroundings.(y)

    UFH Worcester Greenstar 8000 Life

I'm no plumber/spark, but I see you have two zone valves, think you need two thermostats, one for each valve. Then you can run the house rads and UFH separately.

Suspended Floor Insulation Choice Wood Fibre and Rockwool

Looks like you have a bit of wet wood/rot on the joist ends, slide in a strip DPC (as the bitumen might have failed) and repair/replace the joist end. I used rockwool insulation in my floor, then covered the whole floor in building paper (bitumen layered) before nailing down solid wood floor...

Damp front wall in wet weather - working it out

Cold bridging maybe the cause, warm inside temps meeting cold outside temps. Cold water pipes frequently have condensation around them, in cold weather, gas pipes can also. Breeched DPM/DPC is frequently a culprit. Are you planning on removing the concrete surround when you get your new door?

Switching off the hot water on a combi boiler

Turn the cold water off at the stop tap, turn boiler off, do your business, turn water back on, turn boiler on.

Removing mould from Cotswold limestone windows

Isn't the yellow the original colour of the stone... i.e. mould/grime removed? Bleach the whole thing. I think you'll need to insulate these if you want to stop moisture condensing on the cills. The moisture turns to mould if left.

    Robbing Parking Companies

FIL has been 'done' overstaying in these car parks before, he's ignored the demands for payments... and debt collection agency threats. The amounts have been up and down getting to the dizzying heights of nearly £400. This was over a few years ago now and they have never followed it up, even...

Condensation and Humidity problem in loft

Not that it's science... but according to iPhone weather app, the humidity is 86% today anyway. I've seen quite a few times, that there can be air leaking from downlight cut-outs into the loft, and I have seen bathroom extractor piping not sealed properly and these can aid moisture in the loft...

    Brick outbuilding --where to start?

Any chance you can take some wider photos showing more of the outside etc, be good to see the whole structure. Can you take photos looking down onto roof? It looks like a flat roof with slope and presume it's shedding it's water as you have no gutter, this will be adding to the damp wall. Is...

    Allotments

Elbow grease is best. If you double dig I've found they are easier to keep in a good state. Rotavators, only ever seem to churn up weed for me and make more, that said depends on what your weeds are. I've got couch grass and if you chop up the root, you get just get two new ones to contend...

Damp (“rising”?) walls - gable end.

I'd knock the render off, below the dashing, try to find the DPC and have no render below this. Then either lower ground level or dig/cut a trench spade deep 150mm wide along wall, fill with larger pebbles when you can, so air con circulate. You might want to pull a floorboard up as you may...

Crack on render along whole house

I'd hack some off the render, you don't want it to ground level, You need at least two courses of brickwork from bottom of render to ground. I would be tempted to take it to the DPC. Quite a straight forward process. To do it neatly you'll need an angle grinder and diamond segmented blade.

Snap/clap noise in kitchen/living room ceiling 2nd floor flat

Sounds too loud for expansion... but don't suppose there are any hot taps on/heating operating when you get the sounds?

    Brick outbuilding --where to start?

I thought it was going to be worse ;) Is there a damp course in the walls? usually two bricks (ish) up from ground level? Where you think you have rising damp on the photos, what's on the other side of the wall... Is the ground level high? leaking/overflowing gutter etc? Take a couple of pics...
