Mottie

I'm thinking of getting our old allotment back. If it's still available.

It will be overgrown and in disrepair.

Do you know of any hire equipment that's available to make life easy.
Once that's done I'll be able to maintain.

Rotavator thingy?
A pig would be good. Eats all the veg and digs everything over.

Elbow grease is best. If you double dig I've found they are easier to keep in a good state.

Rotavators, only ever seem to churn up weed for me and make more, that said depends on what your weeds are. I've got couch grass and if you chop up the root, you get just get two new ones to contend with.

What about covering in cardboard and manure/compost and waiting for the weed to rot down?

As Mr Chibs says. Look it up, it’s called the 'no dig' method.
