    Storage Heater - thermostat question

Cool, thanks for the help. So the numbers on it basically mean nothing...

    Storage Heater - thermostat question

I have a 2.5kw Creda 79351 that looks to have recently burnt out its neutral wire at the 13A wall switch, the fuse looked to be ok. I'm presuming it's an overheating issue of some sort and that the thermostat is at fault but wanted to confirm. The thermal fuselink is intact. The resistance on...

Faulty 3 way valve tripping electrics? CH only on when HW is

Plumber here. Discovered another valve in most awkward place, hidden behind cladding next to boiler.! Its not a complete unit as in the motor is a different make to the valve. Anyway, the valve was leaking onto the motor and that is obviously the cause of the RCD trip. Seems the...

Faulty 3 way valve tripping electrics? CH only on when HW is

Went to bed last night and left the HW switched to on. About 3am it tripped the RCD. This morning - reset RCD put HW and CH on and RCD tripped almost instantly. Reset RCD, HW only on, trips RCD after about a minute. With HW only on, boiler did fire but seemed to clicked more times...

Faulty 3 way valve tripping electrics? CH only on when HW is

Definitely only found 1 valve (in the airing cupboard), unless there's another hidden elsewhere in the house (behind cladding etc). Switch on boiler is set to 'fully pumped' and not 'gravity'. As is the programmer. HW/CH both been on a good while now (hours) and no RCD tripping. Could the...

Faulty 3 way valve tripping electrics? CH only on when HW is

Fully pumped system yes. Today I checked the wiring connections in the programmer. They looked all good but just tightened them up just in case. Has the CH/HW on together today and both working fine, not had a trip out yet. CH still does not work on its own though, so thinking the...

Faulty 3 way valve tripping electrics? CH only on when HW is

Can only see one 2 x port valve in the airing cupboard. Programmer can set HW and CH independently.

Faulty 3 way valve tripping electrics? CH only on when HW is

Valve is definitely 4043 so I guess 2 port. I also thought the pump maybe causing the trip. Pump is Potterton Celsia. Boiler is Potterton Profile 60. Programmer has 2 x timers for CH and/or HW. Currently been on HW only for nearly an hour now and no tripping. Tripping only...

Faulty 3 way valve tripping electrics? CH only on when HW is

The valve is a 4043h. I've checked everywhere and all wires, pipes and joins etc appear dry, safe and good. The fact that the CH doesn't come on at all without the HW on at the same time is making me a bit suspicious. At the moment I'm trying it with just the HW on only with no CH and so...

Faulty 3 way valve tripping electrics? CH only on when HW is

Hi, I have a fairly old potterton boiler, hot water tank, typical GCH and HW system. Digital thermostat and modern digi timer etc. Recently its started to trip the electrics at the RCD. With the fused switch to the HW/CH off the electrics are absolutely fine with no tripping. Which is why...

    Economy 7 timer wiring

Timer is a Horstmann (see pic). The economy 7 set-up is in an annexe building that will be sublet on a casual basis. I want to stop tenants having the unrestricted immersion on all the time. With the timer they'll only be able to boost it for up to 1 hour at a time. Pic of the meter also...

    Economy 7 timer wiring

I bought an Economy 7 timer for my immersion heater. Currently there are 2 x switches on the wall. One labelled restricted supply (eco7) and the other labelled unrestricted supply. Both have a red and black wire going in at the top plus a brown and blue wire going in the bottom. Now, I...

    2 x Immersion switches - 1 restricted 1 unrestricted - Diff?

Good to know. I'll look at getting a timer I think as it'll be more cost effective having a renter in there. Any idea what the plug and plug socket might be? I can only assume/presume its the plug for the immerision heater which is behind the wall. More investigation required!.

Hot water on only but it also turns on 2 x rads

Hi, My Central heating in this new house seems to work fine. However, with the hot water only set to come on twice a day (and CH totally off) two of the rads also kick in at the same time. Both rads are on the same route from the boiler to the HW tank and both going to bathrooms, the ensuite...

    2 x Immersion switches - 1 restricted 1 unrestricted - Diff?

Aha, ok now that makes perfect sense. Why didn't they just label it economy 7! Oh well. I've found my 2 x fuse boxes now and one clearly says restricted. Suddenly its all starting to make sense. Cheers

    2 x Immersion switches - 1 restricted 1 unrestricted - Diff?

The house we just bought has an annexe with a seperate power supply. Heat is provided via storage heaters and hot water by a big immersion heater. The immersion heater has 2 x switches for it. One that is labelled as 'restricted supply' and the other as 'unrestricted'. Ideally I'd...
